Why pay almost twice as much to have a partially full septic tank pumped?
In more than 90% of our inspections, pumping is not required. Pumping is only required if the level of sludge is greater than, or equal to 1/3 of the tank's capacity.
- If your home is a vacation home or you use your home part time, you most likely don't require pumping.
- If you are away from home most of the day at work, pumping may not be required.
- If you live alone, you typically do not generate enough sludge to require pumping.
Pumping a septic tank when not needed removes the bacteria and enzymes essential in breaking down the sludge and scum to liquid form. These bacteria and enzymes are essential in maintaining a healthy septic tank.

What if My Tank Needs to Be Pumped?
If upon inspection your septic tank is found to be 1/3 full of sludge and scum, State Code requires that a licensed septage pumper must pump it.
